Curriculum Development

  • In the field of micro health insurance a lack of evidence-based knowledge among stakeholders in the market was identified as a major problem, hindering the development of this pro-poor market.
  • Within the “Pro-MHI Africa”-project the cooperating universities develop a modern university lecture using the projects research findings to fill this gap by educating decision makers of tomorrow in universities, government, the industry and civil society.
  • Already existing microfinance course modules in the African partner universities serve as a basis for developing new modules.
  • The developed university teaching modules will include multimedia and participatory learning approaches, thus enhancing university staffs skills to highest level teaching and modern methods.
  • The consortium introduces a joint diploma in microinsurance in order to sustainably provide adequately skilled professionals for the fast growing (micro-) insurance industry.
  • The partners jointly develop curricula on essentials of micro health insurance for teaching to different stakeholders.
  • In addition, the partners develop practice-oriented training modules which can be used to train managers, members of community organizations and micro health insurance units, for further information please see our information on the Pro MHI Africa training material.
