Gerald Leppert

Gerald Leppert graduated in economics and political science at the University of Cologne. He also studied development economics at Thompson Rivers University, Canada. His diploma thesis focused on the “Insurability of high risk groups in micro health insurance units in India”. Gerald Leppert is PhD student and currently working as research assistant at the Department for Cooperative Studies at the University of Cologne and is assigned to coordinate the project “Pro MHI Africa”. Besides this, he participates in health financing projects conducted by German Technical Cooperation (GTZ), especially concerning evaluation and consultancy of micro health insurance schemes. His main research topics are the linkages between micro health insurance units and public social security systems as well as the financial stabilization of cooperative self-help initiatives in the health sector.
