Spy Munthali

Spy Munthali graduated in economics at Chancellor College of the University of Malawi and went on to pursue an MA in economics under a joint programme between the University of Malawi and the African Economic Research Consortium (AERC) in Kenya. The MA research focussed on Food Poverty in Rural Malawi. Spy is currently a lecturer at the University of Malawi and a PhD candidate at the Department of Economics and Economic History of Rhodes University, South Africa. The PhD thesis is cutting across institutional and development economics focussing on institutional factors surrounding stakeholder organizations having influence on the delivery of Community and Home Based Care and Support for HIV/AIDS in rural Malawi. Spy is a core member and trainer of trainers for the National Health Accounts/ Resource Tracking team for Malawi. Over the years he has tremendous experience in evaluation studies concerning Community Livelihoods and Sustainable Development, Health and Poverty.  He joins the MHI team as a research assistant.
