
Dr. D.O. Yinusa specialises in development Finance with special interest in micro finance, informal financial markets and development macroeconomics. He graduated with First Class Honours in Economics from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria (formerly University of Ife) in December, 1992. After working briefly for one year with a leading international management consulting firm, he proceeded to obtain an M.Sc. degree in Economics from the same university in 1998 and later proceeded to pursue a Ph.D in Economics, which he successfully completed in November, 2004.
He joined the Department of Economics, Obafemi Awolowo University as a graduate assistant in September, 1994 and was promoted a senior lecturer in 2007. He is currently Lecturer with Department of Economics, University of Botswana.
Between July 30th 2005 and May, 26, 2006, he was Fulbright Visiting Scholar, at the Department of Economics, Graduate School of Arts and Science, Fordham University, New York, USA. In addition, he has won a number of other awards and grants, among which are: Financial Sector Winner, Development appraisal competition in Nigeria, 1997; African Economic Research Consortium Grant for Ph.D Thesis writing, 2004; CODESRIA grant for Ph.D Thesis writing; among others.
Dr Yinusa has taught across all the mainstream areas in economics, quantitative techniques and econometrics at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He has supervised a couple of masters’s dissertations on a wide range of topics.
Dr. Yinusa has publishes a number of articles in leading journals including, Journal of Policy Modeling, Indian Economic Review, Quarterly Journal of Administration, African Management Review, African Journal of Development Studies, Botswana Journal of Economics, Journal of Economic and Social Studies, etc.
Dr. Yinusa has worked as consultants to Federal Ministries in Nigeria and international organisations, including, UNDP, African Development Bank, and a member of many research networks.
